Español/English/Français...VIRTUD y PASIONES / VIRTUE and PASSIONS / VERTU et PASSIONS

VIRTUD y PASIONES / VIRTUE and PASSIONS / VERTU et PASSIONS

ENGLISH: For Freemasons it is of extreme importance as we conceive the relation between the “VIRTUE” and the “PASSIONS”.

Here two symbolics and antagonistics representations about this “relation”: “The Dance of the Moma” and “The Temptations of St. Anthony” by Salvador Dalí.

In the “Temptations of St. Anthony” there is an opposition between the “Virtue” represented by St. Anthony and the passions. Being left , the Virtue, in a corner and reduced to a minimum space of the painting, while the passions are increased because of the mental confrontation of St. Anthony.

In “The Dance of the Moma”, the MOMA representing the Virtue dances with her “momos” or passions. She has understood that she forms a body of dance with them; they are one, being bound to dance with them throughout her life. There is no confrontation, and it seems that the MOMA does not try to suppress the passions; she hopes that these passions vanish under the light and the heat of an extended conscience.
